FAMILY ROOM HOME EXTENSION
HOME EXTENSION OVERVIEW:
Completed in spring 2009, this home extension was designed to be used as a play area
and an informal garden-level dining room. The space is exceptionally bright with a large
amount of direct natural light being accessed through the high number of windows and
doors plus also the large lanetrn light located on the lead-lined platform roof above.
Due to the large areas of double glazing, this home extension was designed to be highly
energy efficient with the floors, roof and walls having a substantial amount of high-
efficiency insulation contained within it's construction. The doors and windows were pre-
painted and pre-treated at the factory and were manufactured from northern european
grade engineered timbers for long-term stability. All windows and doors were PEFC
certified.
The architect-designed green oak roof structure of this home extension was designed
by the client's architect. |
