HOME EXTENSION OVERVIEW:
This sizeable home extension (at 42 square metres) was completed in spring 2009, having
been architect-designed to provide a bright and well ventilated summer dining space
whilst also offering a completely safe and spacious play area. Natural daylight was a
design priority whilst at the same time, the home extension had to be extremely energy
efficient and largely sustainable in it's construction.
The home extension was therefore carefully designed to provide high levels of thermal
insulation utilising CFC and HCFC free insulation products. Argon filled glazing added to
the overall thermal efficiency of this home extension giving the completed construction
the best possible 'U' value.
Sustainabilty was not overlooked with all windows and doors having been manufactured
from PEFC certified engineered timbers. The materials used in the green oak roof
construction of this home extension was also supplied from a FSC/PEFC certified source. |
