HOME EXTENSION OVERVIEW:
This large family room home, completed in early 2009, having was specifically designed
to offer occasional dining room use during the summer months, plus also a safe play area
for the client's children. The floor space, a generous 42 square metres, benefits from
an exceptional amount of natural daylight that is obtained via the many large doors
and windows that have been built-in to this new home extension. A large lanternlight
with automatic opening vents was also located on the platform roof, adding to the
overall sense of brightness and space.
Despite the many windows and large rooflight, his home extension is also exceptionally
energy-efficient with a substantial amount of insulation having been specified throughout.
All double glazing gaps are Argon filled and underfloor heating has installed to obtain an
even spread of heat throughout.
Sustainability was also considered at the outset, with all timberwork having been specified
as having to originate from a certified sustainable source (FSC/PEFC certified). The
main roof structure was also constructed from green oak, also coming from a certified
sustainable source. |
